I’m a regular mom who just wants to keep her family happy, healthy, and grounded. That is really what Little Bits of Granola is about. Here you’ll find thoughts, ideas, advice, questions, and answers about natural and simple living and home-keeping.
My blogging journey began a few years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby. I love reading and following blogs and wanted to join in on the fun with a green-living blog. That first blog of mine was a fun way to be creative and share my ideas for earth-friendly living. The challenge was that I am a real person who is not 100% green 100% of the time, and I never-ever shared those moments when being green was tough or just didn’t work out at all. So I began to feel a bit dishonest and misleading with my focus being 100% on green-living. That, along with the challenges and learning curve of being a brand new mommy, made it more and more difficult to be motivated to blog. That little blog eventually just sort of disappeared.
After that, I went back to the corporate world and Little Miss S went to daycare and my life went on blogless for a bit.
Then I quit my job to start a small consultancy, working from home and I began teaching part time at the community college. I also went back to school to get my MBA. Then I got pregnant with baby number 2 and started thinking about blogging again. But all I did was think about it for over a year, until last June when I started Little Bits of Granola.
This time, I don’t want to write a “green-living blog” where the entire focus is on green living and the audience consists of others who already live green. Instead, I want to share small tidbits of eco-friendliness in a way that feels more natural and doable in everyday life. I don’t want my readers to see an eco-friendly lifestyle as hard or weird. I want them to see that EVERYONE can add little bits of green to their lives – and many probably already do without knowing it! I also want to share my journey to simplifying my life because I think this is something that many women like me crave. I am not working toward a minimalist lifestyle – I am just working toward a life of contentment and gratitude, getting rid of what causes stress and chaos and letting in what fosters peace, calm, and happiness.
So that’s it in a nutshell! If I can help each person who visits my blog to do just one thing to improve their daily life, I’ll consider my blog successful.
Even though I tried this before, I’m still quite new to the blogging game, so if you have any suggestions or advice please, please reach out to me as any and all feedback is welcome. Also, if you have any questions, topics of interest, or would just like to say hi, you can email me at littlebitsofgranola(at)gmail(dot)com.
